Nepali film 'Gurans' wins award at international festival

KATHMANDU, July 10: Nepali film 'Gurans' has won the Jury Award at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival – a prestigious festival of Europe.

KATHMANDU, July 10: Nepali film 'Gurans' has won the Jury Award at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival – a prestigious festival of Europe. Film director Saurav Rai shared that they were overwhelmingly excited when the film received a warm response at the premier show in the festival held in Czech Republic on July 5. 


"We are excited for being awarded in the first show itself. It has boosted our confidence and enthusiasm for regular shows of the film," he added.


Film actress Menuka Pradhan was also present at the premier show. Pradhan who has established her name in the film industry commented that it was a new experience for her to participate in the film festival.

The film – a joint presentation of Nepal and India - has a story from the lens of a 10-year old girl who came out in search of a lost dog. 


Director Rai himself wrote the story of the film that has also presented changing economic and social relations in Darjeeling. 


Actor Tulasi Khawas has played the lead role in the movie while Khagendra Lamichhane is presented in her father's role.
