Highway to Dhampus to release on Sept 25

KATHMANDU, Sept 13: One of the most anticipated films of the year, 'Highway to Dhampus', starring Nepali actors Raj Ballav Koirala, Suesha Rana, and Desh Bhakta Khanal, and Hollywood actors Rachel Hurd-Wood and Gunner Wright, is set to be released on September 25.

Written and directed by Rick McFarland, this feature film focuses on Elizabeth, a British heiress, who comes to Nepal in order to repair her image as a spoiled rich girl. She visits a small orphanage where she meets Laxmi, the headmistress. And while she finds herself undergoing a change during her trip, Ajit, the bush pilot and Colt, the American photojournalist discover they have reasons to change, too.Forty percent of the proceeds collected from the screening of the film in Nepal will be used to help those affected by the April 25 earthquake. The fund collected from the charity shows 'Highway to Dhampus' screened in the UK, US, and Australia was earlier sent to the earthquake relief fund, too.

'Highway to Dhampus' has already gathered awards at different film festivals around the world. Some of the awards it has received are 'Best US Premiere' and 'Narrative Feature Film' at Heartland Film Festival, 'Best Feature Film' and 'World Showcase' at Soho International Film Festival, and 'Best Feature Film' and 'Best Lead Actress' at Madrid International Film Festival.
