DADELDHURA, Sept 10: Married women in Dadeldhura district are getting easy access to higher education of late after the higher secondary schools (HSS) started operating in many villages of the district. 

Locals say encouraging number of women are taking part in higher education from many villages after they no longer have to travel far for education.

Urmila Magar of Alital -5, who is always busy fulfilling responsibilities of a daughter-in-law, now is able to manage some time for education after a HSS recently started operation nearby her house. Managing some time for studies has become possible for her as the school is just five-minute walk away.

Not just Urmila, many housewives in the district have similar story to share. Hira Bohora of Parashuram Municipality-7, who finished her School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examinations five years ago and had settled down, now finds time for higher studies after establishment of a HSS in her area recently.

“I was not able to attend college for higher studies after marriage because colleges were very far away. It made me feel that my 10 years of hard work had gone wasted,” said Urmila, who just got enrolled in grade 11. “Now I'm able to fulfill my desire of higher education after a HSS opened in my own village.”

Inner Madhesh areas of the district alone have over half-a-dozen schools offering higher level education. According to Jogbuda Source Center, four High Schools were converted into HSS as increased number of students started participating in +2 education programs.

“Those who were forced to discontinue education after marriage are now starting to enroll.

The number of students enrolling for +2 education program is very encouraging.

Especially married women are being benefitted,” said Laxmi Awasti, a teacher of recently opened Siddhanath Chandani HSS in Parshuram-6.

According to District Education Office, Dadeldhura, there are six HSS and one campus offering +2 education programs in the district.
