KATHMANDU, July 24: The petitioners and defendants of cases in courts will not have to attend for a date in courts from now onwards.

The hassles of attending the date in courts has been minimized after the Supreme Court and the Appellate Court amended the regulations giving the clients themselves the right to decide whether or not to remain in the date. [break]

According to the new provision, the court will make arrangement of a date if clients want so.

In the past, they had to compulsorily attend in the courts on the fixed date as per the Clause 59 of the Adalati Bandobasta of the Civil Code.

The court can now give the time for the hearing on the day of registration of the case, and can inform through phone, besides posting in the website.

This has facilitated the people of the far-flung areas from frequently visiting the supreme court and appellate courts, sometimes needing many days´ walk. The court verdict could have been in favor of other side if the date was not attended.
