GANDAKI, Sept 9: A high alert has been sounded in downstream areas after the flow of the Kimrung rivulet in Annapurna Rural Municipality-11 of Kaski suddenly decreased, raising fears that a landslide upstream may have blocked the rivulet.
The local administration last night publicly urged residents living near the Kimrung and Modi rivers to move to safe places as a precaution against potential risks.

According to Police Inspector Rajan Kumar Patel of the District Police Office, Parbat, residents of settlements such as Dimuwa and Ambot along the Modi River have been moved to safe places following early warnings issued over loudspeakers.
Chitranga Baral, assistant chief district officer of Kaski, said the alert level in riverbank areas had been raised after receiving information from locals that a landslide may have blocked the river.
“After receiving information that the river has overflowed, a high alert has been issued, and everyone has been informed to move to a safe place,” he said.
