According to the organizers, the main objective of the event was to creatively engage children and young people with Naxal’s rich culture, history and way of life.

As part of the heritage exploration walk, children visited historical and cultural sites such as temples, dabalis (traditional platforms), stone spouts and rest houses. The streets were transformed into playful classrooms and learning spaces to make the experience fun and interactive.

The organizers stated that the initiative aims to spark curiosity, pride and a deep sense of connection among the youngest members of the community. It is also a participatory effort to collectively imagine how heritage conservation and local development can go hand in hand.

After successful placemaking initiatives in Hadigaun, the Digo Bikas Institute and Kathmandu metropolis are now exploring similar community transformation possibilities in Naxal and Jayabageshwori. There are also plans to expand these creative and strategic urbanism approaches to other heritage neighborhoods in the coming years.
