Heavy rains in Nawalpur, Palpa, Chitwan; Alert issued for riverbank areas

KATHMANDU, Aug 20: Following heavy rainfall in Chitwan, Nawalpur, and Palpa over the last six hours, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued an alert for riverbank areas, citing a risk of flash floods in small and large rivers flowing through these districts.

According to the DHM, 156.4 mm of rain has fallen in Dandabazar, Nawalpur, in the last six hours. Shaktikhor in Chitwan recorded 104.8 mm, Devghat in Chitwan recorded 101.8 mm, and Archale in Palpa recorded 104.8 mm.


The Flood Forecasting Division has highlighted the risk of flash floods, debris flows, and landslides in some small ravines along the Narayangadh-Muglin road section. Travelers are advised to exercise extreme caution when passing through that area.
