BAITADI, Sept 26: Vehicle services have been halted in Baitadi and Darchula following forecasts of heavy rainfall and rising risks of floods and landslides.
The Baitadi District Administration Office has prohibited public vehicles from operating across the district from 6 am today until 6 am Sunday. The Darchula administration has also urged transport operators and the public to keep both public and private vehicles off the roads.
Vehicular movement along Jaya Prithvi Highway resumes
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority have identified Baitadi and Darchula as districts at risk of heavy rainfall and urged people to remain alert.
Baitadi has been receiving continuous rainfall since last night. Both district administrations have urged transport operators and the public not to operate long- and short-distance vehicles.
The Darchula District Administration Office said the restriction was imposed as the district falls under the “very high risk” category.
