KATHMANDU, April 5: Hearing on the government application seeking nullification of the March 24 Supreme Court order staying the retirement of the eight brigadier generals of Nepal Army (NA) scheduled for Sunday has been put off after advocates decided to mourn on the death of senior advocate Mukunda Regmi. He died Saturday night. [break]

Earlier on Thursday, the Supreme Court said that it would conduct a hearing on Sunday. All hearings in the court, including the one on Reporters Club Nepal Chairman Rishi Dhamala* have been postponed Sunday.

Justices Rana Bahadur Bam and Sushila Karki fixed the date of hearing on Thursday after an initial hearing on the application filed by the then Defense Secretary Baman Prasad Neupane earlier.

The government moved the apex court with the application after the Supreme Court stayed the retirement of the eight brigadier generals.
