KATHMANDU, May 29: The Supreme Court has postponed the hearing on a writ petition filed against Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.
The hearing, originally scheduled for today, was to be presided over by Justice Sunil Kumar Pokharel, with Attorney General Dinmani Pokharel also slated to attend.
The postponement followed a request by petitioner Anupam Bhattarai to adjourn the proceedings. Advocate Bhattarai had filed the petition after Attorney General Pokharel exonerated Home Minister Lamichhane in a cooperative fund misappropriation case.
The petition argues that since the investigative agency operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Lamichhane should be suspended from his position pending a thorough investigation into the alleged cooperative fraud.
Additionally, a parliamentary probe committee was formed on Tuesday to investigate the cooperative case, indicating further developments in this matter.
