As these cases are being heard, the constitutional bench has decided not to hear other cases today.

Advocates Raviraj Basaula, Yuvraj Poudel and others filed a writ petition questioning the election of Lamichhane, who is also the chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, to the House of Representatives.

The petitioners have demanded the cancellation of the position of Home Minister Lamichhane, stating that he established a political party, contested the House of Representatives election and became a member of parliament without acquiring the Nepali citizenship.

The police were investigating him on the allegation of creating a Nepali passport without renouncing his American citizenship and submitting false information. But he was appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister on December 26.
