KATHMANDU, June 25: The hearing on the case against the Koshi Province government has concluded at the Supreme Court (SC). The hearing, conducted by a full bench of SC Justices Kumar Regmi, Abdul Aziz Muslim and Nahkul Subedi concluded on Tuesday.

The verdict on the case is likely today as the justices are busy writing down their verdict.

Koshi Province Chief Parashuram Khapung suspended Chief Minister (CM) Kedar Karki from his post “in accordance with clause 5 of Article 168 of the Constitution” and appointed UML leader Hikmat Kumar Karki as the CM on May 8. On May 9, Kedar Karki filed a writ at the SC against the formation of the new government.

The SC’s verdict today will decide who will be the CM of Koshi Province. If the SC decides to issue the writ, Kedar Karki will be reinstated as the CM, but if the petition is dismissed, the current CM Hikmat Kumar Karki will continue.
