Hearing on case against Kathmandu Mayor Balen deferred

KATHMANDU, April 18: The writ petition filed against the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), Balendra Shah, for not collecting garbage from different places including Singha Durbar couldn’t be heard today.

The hearing on the petition filed by advocate Padam Bahadur Shrestha on Monday was scheduled for the eighth bench of acting Chief Justice Karki on Tuesday.

Advocate Padam Bahadur Shrestha filed the petition naming KMC Mayor Balendra Shah and the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers as the defendants. The petitioner has sought an interim order from the court arguing that the piling up of garbage could lead to the spread of diseases.
