Mayor Balendra Shah banned the exhibition of Hindi movies in KMC halls, citing the portrayal of Sita as an Indian daughter in the Hindi film Adhipurush. Film hall owners have approached the High Court, asserting that the mayor's decision violates the law.

Film hall owners have also requested an interim order permitting the screening of Hindi movies in theaters within Kathmandu. The hearing for this writ petition has been scheduled for Thursday.
