KATHMANDU, Dec 19: The hearing on the writ petition filed by member of parliament (MP) Amresh Kumar Singh who has been waiting for his turn in the Supreme Court for a week and a half, against Ncell has started today. The hearing started at the single bench of Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut.
The case against Ncell, which was pending since the past week, is finally being heard today. Even after filing a writ petition against Ncell's share purchase and sale case, and appearing in court, the case was not sent to be heard for a week when its own lawyers postponed the hearing and the court couldn’t hear it for a week .

The dispute arose after Malaysia's Axiata Company, which bought 80 percent of Ncell's shares seven years ago for Rs 1.44 trillion, recently sold it to Spectrlite UK, a British company founded by Nepali, for a total of Rs 6.5 billion.
Member of the House of Representatives Singh himself filed a writ petition claiming that the shares of the private sector telecommunication service provider Ncell were bought and sold in an opaque manner that would harm the country by distorting the legal process.
Earlier, a short-term interim order has been issued in the writ petition filed against Ncell in Patan High Court. An order has been made to stop the process of buying and selling shares of Ncell. Even according to the order of the High Court Patan, Ncell is not allowed to sell shares.
The writ petitioner, MP Singh, filed the petition against the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Nepal Telecommunications Authority, the Office of The Company Registrar, the Inland Revenue Department and Ncell.
