BIRGUNJ, Aug 16: Agitating health workers clashed with the police at the National Medical College in Birgunj on Sunday morning.

The clash occurred after the police intervened while the health workers and hospital staff attempted to padlock the hospital´s out-patient department. At least 10 agitators, including women, were injured in the clash, according to Sanjeev Yadav, a labor leader. Police fired tear gas shells to contain the situation.

Health workers and staffers have been agitating for the past two weeks demanding reinstatement of three staffers who were fired by the hospital administration.
