Health Ministry warns Manipal Medical College of registration scrap

POKHARA, April 23: The Ministry of Health has sought clarification from Pokhara-based Manipal Medical College for not providing emergency medical service to the injured of Jomsom bus accident.


The Ministry also has asked the college to respond within 24 hours with the proper reason.


 The Ministry has asked the clarification with the college mentioning the incident was against the article 35(1) of the constitution that described that none of the citizen will be deprived from getting basic emergency health service.

Likewise, the Ministry has cited that the health service is the essential service and there should not be any strike and protest in the sector.


The Ministry has sought the clarification why the registration of the medical college should not be scrapped.


The Ministry has constituted a three-member committee to investigate the incident under the coordination of Dr. Bhola Ram Shrestha. The other members of the committee are Dr. Dhundi raj Poudel and Deputy Secretary of the ministry Bhavanath Khatiwada. The committee has been asked to submit the report within three days.


The Ministry has stated that the issue is related with the health services of the public so the Ministry has taken initiation to move the step forward though the college comes under the monitor of Education Ministry.
