KATHMANDU, Dec 20: Crusader for medical education reforms Dr. Govinda KC has urged the Tribhuvan University's Institute of Medicine (IOM) and the authorities concerned to scrap the permission granted to Janaki Medical College to run medical education courses.

Issuing a statement on Wednesday, Dr. KC expressed his concern over illegal enrollment of students at the Janaki Medical College and a court order to legalize the enrollments. The college had allegedly enrolled students who had failed IOM's eligibility test.

“So I urge the IOM and other agencies concerned to either scrap the medical education seats for such medical colleges in the next academic session or begin the process to altogether scrap the permission to run medical education courses,” said Dr. KC. “The mafia elements which operate medical colleges without meeting minimum requirements and infrastructures have managed to influence even the law courts,” he added.
