Dr Abhiyan Gautam, chief of the Child Health and Immunization Section of the Family Welfare Division, informed Republica that the children who missed regular vaccinations will be vaccinated today.

Previously, those who missed the regular vaccination were vaccinated on April 28. According to him, 13 types of vaccinations will be administered to children under the age of five who missed the regular vaccinations which should be administered every 15 months.

In order to ensure that no child misses regular vaccinations, the ministry has started vaccinating them by conducting a two-day comprehensive search and vaccination campaign on April 15 and today. Children up to five years of age are vaccinated against 13 different diseases to prevent disease, disability and death.

Even now in Nepal, 80 percent of children are not fully vaccinated, 20 percent are not vaccinated and four percent of children are not vaccinated at all. In some districts, the number of children missing vaccination has increased. As the epidemic of measles and rubella has also appeared, the ministry has started vaccinating children who have missed regular vaccinations.
