KATHMANDU, Aug 20: The Ministry of Health and Population has confirmed 707 new cases of coronavirus on Thursday, taking the country's COVID-19 tally to 29,645.
At a virtual media briefing, Jageshwar Gautam, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, said that 707 COVID-19 cases were detected during tests conducted at various labs across the country in the past 24 hours. Of the newly infected, 515 are males and 192 are females.

The Kathmandu Valley alone recorded 200 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours.
According to Dr Gautam, 264 persons who had earlier contracted the virus were discharged from various isolation centers and health institutions after recovery in the past 24 hours. "With this, 17, 964 COVID-19 patients have been discharged after recovery as of today," he said.
There are currently 11,555 active cases of coronavirus across the country.
Likewise, the country’s COVID-19 death toll reached 126 on Thursday with six more people dying of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, he said.
