Hashish kingpin arrested

KATHMANDU, May 29: Police have arrested another big wheel behind narcotics smuggling on Tuesday, in less than a fortnight after Devendra Rokka, a leading hashish racketeer, was nabbed from his own contraband processing factory in the capital.



Tok Bahadur Tamang, 38, of Tarpush VDC-2 in Dhading district, was arrested allegedly in possession of over 100 kilograms of hashish from Nagdhunga.[break]



According to Narcotics Drug Control Law Enforcement Unit (NDCLEU), Tamang was one of the most wanted smugglers.



Likewise, another group of peddlers was arrested Friday in the capital while carrying 200 grams of brown sugar. Those arrested include Ram Thakur, an Indian national, Dhiv Kumari Devi of Parsa, and Dinesh Shrestha of Kathmandu.



In another operation last week, Dev Prasad Pandit and Pappu Kumar Sharma of Parsa were arrested in the capital allegedly in possession of Diazepam and Buprenorphine, illegal drugs.
