Consoling the bereaved family members, Ghimire said that the government had taken the incident seriously. “The incident is condemnable and the government is dealing with it seriously,” said Ghimire. “A probe team has already been formed to investigate the murder,” he told Haque´s supporters.
Meanwhile, Haque´s body was buried at Kalyanpur-2 as per the Muslim tradition. The joint struggle committee formed by the locals to protest Haque´s murder agreed to call off the road blockade after the home minister promised to address their nine-point demand.
“We have called off the strike,” said former minister and member of the struggle committee Mrigendra Prasad Singh.
According to the police, three of the murder suspects have been arrested in Biratnagar. Haque, a former CA member elected from Saptari Cosntituency No 5, was found dead with his throat slit in a room at the Bisanpur-based petrol pump he owned.
