Gurung, playing with eight handicap, secured 35 points on the first day of the amateur golf tournament sponsored by International Society of Medical Education (ISME).[break]
Lakshman Pun (14 handicap) is in the second position at the end of the first day. Pun scored 34 points at the Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC) on Friday.
Till Bahadur Gurung has secured the third position with 33 points under his belt while Kiran S Thapa scored 32 points to secure the fourth position.
The annual amateur tournament will feature a total of 96 golfers and remaining 64 golfers will tee off on Saturday. The event is being played over 18 holes under stable ford format with 7/8 Handicap allowance. Rabin Rana of Royal Nepal Golf club is the defending champion of the tournament.
