“The family of the soldier, who reside in Kaski, were informed on Saturday morning,” the Embassy said adding that the bereaved family has requested to withhold identification for a period of grace.

“We all mourn the loss of this fine young soldier, who was working alongside his British and Gurkha colleagues to bring peace and stability to troubled Afghanistan,” a spokesperson of the British army was quoted as saying in the release.

On Friday, the embassy said that another Gurkha solider succumbed to injuries sustained in the same province of Afghanistan without disclosing the identification.
