After learning shamanism, she had informed the family members that the elderly couple was practicing witchcraft and blamed them for the illnesses. Following which, all members of her family reached the house of the elderly couple at around 1 am and started attacking them.

According to Shashikala, her family members could not be treated as the couple had cast black magic on them. As per a preliminary investigation by police, the Khawas family had actually planned to kill the couple but that didn’t happen due to timely intervention by police. As they started thrashing the elderly couple, the locals had immediately informed the police, who rushed to the scene immediately.

Chief KC said police have arrested all four members involved in the incident and are currently investigating the case.  As the couple has sustained serious injuries in the attack, they are being treated at the Biratnagar-based Koshi Zonal Hospital.
