KATHMANDU, Nov 21: The real estate trade is found gradually decreasing across the country. As the trade decreases, there has also been a decline in revenue collection.
According to the Land Management and Records Department, which maintains records of land and house transactions, the amount of revenue collection has gradually declined in the first four months of the current Fiscal Year (FY).

Even though the government has facilitated real estate transactions, revenue collection has not increased as expected. Just a few days ago, the government amended the Land Use (Third Amendment) Regulations.
In Kartik month (mid-October to mid-November), land revenue offices across the country collected revenue amounting to Rs 2.745 billion. In the Ashoj month (mid-September to mid-October), revenue amounting to Rs 2.758 billion was collected from real estate trade. Similarly, in Bhadra (mid-August to mid-September), revenue amounting to Rs 3.140 billion was collected.
The Department of Land Management and Records (DoLMR) has stated that revenue amounting to Rs 3.2891 billion was collected in the past Shrawan month (mid-July to mid-August), the first month of the current FY 2025/26.
According to the DoLMR, last Kartik (mid-October to mid-November), Rs 213.447 million was collected through service tax, Rs 156.296 million through registration fees, and Rs 997.884 million through capital gains tax.
