Speaking at a program organized by the Reporters Club in the capital, Poudel, who is close to party Vice-chairman and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, said “The government as well as the party will not backtrack on the decision to hand over the keys to Special Committee.” [break]
He also described the protest program against the decision launched by the faction led by party Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya as a fitful drive without any goal and objective and said the senior vice-chairman should think twice before continuing with it.
Poudel said the Baidya faction’s recent activities have only created room for the people to have doubts on the integrity and commitment of the Maoist party to the ongoing peace and constitution drafting processes.
He further said the cabinet will, more or less, get its final shape by Sunday, adding that cabinet expansion will take place even if the Baidya faction opts not to join it.
