The Ministry is to monitor the government´s physical infrastructures after the government implemented the building code that new buildings, which are going to be constructed, should be compulsorily made disabled-friendly. [break]
At a program organized here today, Minister for Women, Children and Welfare, Badri Neupane, claimed that new buildings constructed in Singha Durbar, are disabled-friendly.
Minister Neupane said they will monitor the government buildings in the beginning and then buildings of the private sector, whether or not they are disabled-friendly.
There is a provision in the policy related to disabled and UN General Convention that there should be access of disabled to every physical infrastructure, transportation, information and technology and systems, among others.
He added that rehabilitation of disabled and relief programmes have been launched through community-based programs.
Similarly, Executive Director of the Youth Self-Employment Development Fund, Binod Guragain, said that the Fund is going to bring different programs to make the disabled self-reliant.
The Fund has now brought self-employment program through 200 cooperatives in 34 districts. Likewise, Rabindra Kumar of the Social Welfare Council urged NGOs to bring disabled self-employment program.
On the occasion, Japanese expert of self-employment, Sata Satoshi, informed about the concept of disabled self-employment.
