Govt to vaccinate unimmunized children under five on May 14

KATHMANDU, May 2: The government has announced that children under the age of five, who missed their vaccinations, will be vaccinated on May 14.



Dr Abhiyan Gautam, chief of the Child Health and Immunization Division at the Department of Health Services, stated that nine types of routine vaccines will be administered to children who missed their scheduled immunizations.

“We will be vaccinating children under the age of five, who missed their routine immunizations, on May 14,” he said, “On that day, children who were previously left out of regular vaccinations will receive their missed doses.”


In Nepal, 95 percent of children under the age of five have already received full immunization. Dr Gautam, stated that efforts are underway to locate and vaccinate the remaining 5 percent who missed their doses.


The Ministry of Health and Population has urged all parents to take their unvaccinated children to the nearest health facility to ensure they receive the necessary immunizations.
