Govt to submit proposal for registration of vehicles manufactured in Nepal to the cabinet within seven days

KATHMANDU, April 24: The government is preparing to submit a proposal to the Council of Ministers in order to solve the legal complexity seen in the registration process of vehicles produced in Nepal after amending the related laws.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal gave instructions to solve the problem immediately to address the concerns of the public. 

A discussion held among the relevant agencies at the Office of  the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers took a decision to this effect on Monday.

The meeting chaired by Ganesh Prasad Pandey, secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, decided that the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport will make the necessary arrangements within three days for the registration of vehicles manufactured in Nepal by amending the Transport Management Work Procedures, 2060 BS.

According to Secretary Pandey, arrangements will be made for the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport to submit the proposal to the Council of Ministers within seven days by making necessary amendments to the ‘Vehicle and Transport Management Rules, 1997, (2054BS)’ for the registration of vehicles produced in Nepal.

Officials of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Ministry of Law, Department of Transport Management, and officials of the electric motorcycle 'Yatri' were present during the discussion.

Prime Minister Dahal had earlier instructed to create an environment for granting incentives as well as a policy arrangement to encourage the production of goods and services in Nepal.
