KATHMANDU, Aug 4: The government has decided to accept 1.5 million and 55,505 US Dollars in grant to be received from the Global Environment Facility for Restoring the Degraded Watershed and Livelihoods of Lakhandei River Basin through Sustainable Land Management.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on August 1 decided to accept the grant, the government's Spokesperson and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma said. 

Likewise, Minister Sharma shared that tenure of the corporation recommendation committee formed under the leadership of Shankar Prasad Adhikari has been given two more months.

Similarly, the cabinet meeting decided to form a talks team led by a joint-secretary at the Finance Ministry to give a final touch to the document on receiving 20 million US Dollars from the World Bank Group for the Food and Nutrition Reforms Programme second phase.

Furthermore, next one panel has been formed under the leadership of a joint-secretary at the Finance Ministry to get 100 million US Dollars in concessional loan for budgetary assistance under the Strengthening Public Financial Management and Developed Services Delivery Programme.

The Cabinet has also decided to exempt tax as per the clause 18 (10) of the Windfall Gains Tax Financial Act, 2080 on Nick Simons Institute on 20,000 US Dollars of prize to be received from the World Health Organization. 

Minister Sharma further informed that entrepreneur, producer and farmers Agni Prasad Aryal, Sharada Niraula, Ramaji Prasad Sapkota and Prem Kumari Adhikari were appointed as the members of seed committee members.

The government also decided to allow the concerned project to acquire 421.96 square km of land for building a concrete structure to prevent landslides in the western section of the ongoing Nagdhunga tunnel. For the upgrading of Kamala-Dhalkebar-Pathlaiya roadway, the huts in the road range would be acquired and compensation provided.

The term of the committee formed to resolve problems at Khokana section of Lalitpur under the Kathmandu-Terai expressway has been extended by three months. The committee is led by Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister.

A total of 24.67 hectares of land in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Makwanpur districts which belong to the national forest would be given in lease to Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) for constructing tower pad and right off way for Matatirtha-Malta 33 KV transmission line.

Spokesperson Sharma informed that the Cabinet meeting would nominate the person for Vice Chairman of Medical Education Commission.

Advertisement (regulation) first amendment regulation, 2080 has been endorsed by the Cabinet meeting. Also endorsed by the meeting is the national implementation plan on climate change mitigation and adaptation.

The government permitted the entry of a bill relating to amendment and integration of school education act in the parliament. It also endorsed the labor (first amendment) regulation, 2080.
