The Department of Environment under the Science, Technology and Environment Ministry said so organising a news conference here today. The campaign, launched by the government to establish the capital as a beautiful city, was obstructed due to the April 25 earthquake.Director General at the Department, Suraj Pokharel, said that they have forwarded action against 12 businessmen for selling polythene bags against the government's direction while in course of monitoring the different parts from April 14-24.
The Department had seized some 30 quintals of polythene bags in course of monitoring. Monitoring would be carried out by forming eight teams, according to the Department.
On the occasion, Spokesperson and Joint-Secretary at the Ministry, Mahendra Kumar Thapa, released a book 'Journal of Environment Science' and urged the plastic entrepreneurs to follow the government's direction and law to make the capital plastic-free.
Pointing out the vital role of the media persons in environment protection, he expected support from the media in the days ahead. RSS
