Govt to receive Rs 5.9 billion grant from Germany

KATHMANDU, Dec 9:  The government of Germany is to provide around Rs 5.9 billion grant assistance to Nepal. The government provided authority to the Finance Minister to sign the agreement in this regard.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, shared this at a press meet organized on Friday to inform about the decision of Thursday's Cabinet meeting.

The meeting decided to give a final shape to the draft of agreement related to a loan of around Rs 13 billion to be received from the World Bank and to form a talks team under leadership of Joint-Secretary of Finance Ministry to hold discussion with WB.

Also the Spokesperson of the government, Minister Sharma took the decision to accept grant assistance worth 2 million US dollar to be received from Saudi Arabia to establish a Polytechnic Institute and to purchase chemical fertilizer. 

She mentioned that the government accepted the grant assistance to be provided by the Indian government for the implementation of "High Impact Community Development Project' and to establish quarantine check post at Trinagar checkpoint of Kailali and Suthauli check point of Kapilvastu for the quarantine of the plant and plant products.

Similarly, the Cabinet appointed Rudra Prasad Gautam to the post of Chairperson of Water Tariff Fixing Commission and Yashoda Karki and Kul Bhusan Shekhar Sharma as the members.

Integrated National Social Security Framework, 2080 presented by Finance, and the Infrastructure Committee as well as National Insurance Policy, 2080, were also approved by the government.
