Govt seeks AG advice on governor issue

KATHMANDU, July 16: The Finance Ministry on Thursday sent a letter to the Office of Attorney General (AG) seeking its suggestion on the reinstatement of suspended governor of Nepal Rastra Bank Bijaya Nath Bhattarai.



Dismissed Bhattarai and NRB executive director, Surendra Man Pradhan got clean chit from the charges of corruption by Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday.



The government has asked whether Finance Minister Surendra Pandey, in capacity of departmental Minister, could appointment Bhattarai as a new governor or a proposal on his new appointment should be taken to the cabinet.



“We have received letter by the Finance Ministry requesting suggestions on the matter” AG Bharat Bahadur Karki told myrepublica.
