KATHMANDU, Sept 16: The government has recommended President Bidya Devi Bhandari to prorogue the ongoing budget session of federal parliament effective from midnight Saturday.
A cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence in Baluwatar took a decision to this effect.
The Election Commission (EC) has set September 18 and 19 to submit a closed list of candidates to be elected under the proportional representation electoral system of the federal parliament. As per the existing legal arrangements, parliament will automatically cease to exist a day before the date of submitting the closed list of candidates to be elected under proportional representation electoral system.
The EC has declared elections to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly for November 20.
