Govt recommends names for ambassadorial appointment to 11 countries

KATHMANDU, May 15:  The government has initiated a process to appoint ambassadors in various 11 countries.

Two of those recommended as ambassadors are career diplomats serving at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the remaining others are candidates considered close to the ruling CPN-UML. Joint Secretaries at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nirmal Raj Kafle has been proposed as Nepal's Ambassador to Austria and Jiwan Prakash Shrestha as Nepal's envoy to Egypt. 

According to cabinet sources, the names of those recommended as ambassadors have been sent to the Parliament Secretariat for conducting parliamentary hearings. Former Minister for General Administration Yubaraj Karki, former Mayor of Biratnagar Metropolitan City Ramesh Chandra Paudel, former UML lawmaker from Palpa district Kul Prasad Nepal, university teachers and rights activists with political background of UML are among those recommended as envoys under political quota.

2.     Jiwan Prakash Shrestha (Egypt)

3.     Ramesh Chandra Paudel (Sri Lanka)

4.     Krishna Chandra Sharma (South Korea)

5.     Sumnima Tuladhar (Australia)

6.     Janga Bahadur Chauhan (Russia)

7.     Narayan Prasad Sangroula (Myanmar)

8.     Yubaraj Karki (Bahrain)

9.     Kul Prasad Nepal (Brazil)

10.  Sumitra Subedi (Denmark)

11.  Meraj Musalman (Saudi Arabia)
