Deuba govt scraps nine ambassadorial appointments made by Oli govt

KATHMANDU, July 18: The newly-formed government has scrapped ambassadorial appointments of nine individuals made by the KP Sharma Oli-led government.

KATHMANDU, July 18: The newly-formed government has scrapped ambassadorial appointments of nine individuals made by the KP Sharma Oli-led government.


Earlier in May, the Oli-led government had appointed 11 individuals as ambassadors to different countries. Oli had appointed them without a parliamentary hearing following the dissolution of parliament.


The appointment of nine ambassadorial nominees except two appointed as ambassadors who were career diplomats serving at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been scrapped by the government.


According to an official at the foreign ministry, appointments of Nirmal Raj Kafle, the ambassador designate for Austria and Jiwan Prakash Shrestha, ambassador designate for Egypt, have not been scrapped.
