Minister for Home Affairs Madhav Ghimire, who is also coordinator from the government side to hold talks, issued the letter describing the CPN-Maoist´s recent move of forming its team for holding talks with the government as a positive step and urging the alliance to sit for talks. [break]
In the letter, Minister Ghimire has said that the venue and time for talks would be decided later as per the convenience of both the sides. The letter further restates that the government is confident about ending the ongoing political deadlock through dialogue.
"The government has already called on the disgruntled parties for talks with an aim to resolve the ongoing political stalemate through dialogue. Despite our efforts, no talks have been possible as yet," the letter says, adding, "It is clear that the incumbent government was formed with the sole responsibility of holding Constituent Assembly elections. It has made all efforts to hold CA elections on November 19 in a free, fair and conducive environment."
The government and the High Level Political Committee (HLPC) have been urging the protesting parties to come on board the election process. However, except the Baidya-led CPN Maoist, none of the parties have said that they are ready for talks with the government.
