KATHMANDU, March 4: The Ministry of Finance (MoF) is providing a conditional grant of Rs 1.08 billion to 113 local governments to fund the health service centers that are under-construction.
According to MoF Spokesperson Suman Dahal, the government has allocated Rs 4.20 billion for the current fiscal year to complete the construction of the infrastructures at the local level. “Of the allocated amount, Rs 2.69 billion has already been released,” he said.
The government has targeted to construct hospitals with primary health care in all local units and has announced to fund Rs 57.97 billion for this purpose. Last November, Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel laid the foundation stones for five- to 15-bed hospitals in 649 local units in order to increase the access of health services.
