Govt proposes three weeks leave for civil servants contracting COVID-19

KATHMANDU, Nov 8: The Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Management ( MoFAGM) has proposed a two to three weeks holiday to those civil servants contracting coronavirus disease.


The proposal is soon to be tabled in the meeting of Council of Ministers. Once the proposal is approved, civil servants diagnosed with the virus will be granted a two to three weeks of leave for recovery.

“The leave will not be deducted from the annual holiday quota,” the Ministry clarifies.


As a civil servant, one enjoys 12 days sick leave, 30 days home leave and 24 days urgent leave. In case of COVID-19 infection, a civil servant will be granted extra two to three weeks leave.


According to the latest data from the Ministry, over 1,000 civil servants have already contracted the virus across the country.  In recent days, the government offices have turned into COVID-19 hotspots.
