KATHMANDU, July 8: Opposition parties have termed the government policy and program ritualistic and have criticized it for failing to address the current crisis facing the country.

UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said the policy and program lack proper vision for post-quake reconstruction and fails to address the situation after promulgation of the new constitution. "I didn't see the seriousness required in the context of post-quake reconstruction in the document unveiled by the government," Dahal, who is also a former prime minister, told reporters emerging from the parliament meeting. "It was ritualistic without any novelty."

UCPN (Maoist) leader Baburam Bhattarai said the document unveiled by the government on Wednesday merely gives continuity to policy and program of previous years. "I found nothing new in the policy program," said Bhattarai after the parliament meeting.

Chairman of the Federal Socialist Forum Nepal Upendra Yadav also said the policy and program lack proper plans which could lead the country toward prosperity. "The program should have plans for prosperity but I saw nothing new other than ritual commitments," said Yadav after the House meeting. Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa said the policy and program lacking any vision.
