He alleged that the government is intimidating the Madhesi youths who have been agitating for their rights. "Nepal police shot dead an alleged criminal in the name of encounter three days after he was handed over to Nepal by Indian police," said Yadav while speaking at a press meet in Janakpur on Saturday. According to him, the "murder of five youths" in Dhanusha is also an attempt to weaken the Madhes movement. The MPRF chairman was of the opinion that the government is intimidating the Madhesi youths and depriving them of their rights.
Yadav said the Nepali Congress is delineating federal states so that they touch the borders of both India and China and such delineation would not be acceptable to his party. He said his party would launch strong protests if states were created in such a manner.
It may be recalled that MPRF is demanding "one Madhes state" in the entire southern plains. Yadav accused the government of launching activities against federalism.
Yadav also alleged that the Supreme Court decision to nullify the oath in Hindi by Paramananda Jha is against the interim constitution. "It is the result of Khas mentality and directed against the sentiments of the Madhesis," he said.
The MPRF chairman also expressed sadness at the the government´s failure to create atmosphere conducive for constitution-writing. He argued that the government is rather making preparations to extend the term of the Constituent Assembly.
Yadav argued that only a national consensus government can promulgate a constitution as per the people´s aspirations and that his party will wait till such a government is formed. He said he agrees with the Maoists on the Madhes agendas, but the party doesn´t have any links with the Maoist party at present.
