GORKHA, June 17: A rare 'Tame' pangolin species has been found in the Phalate area of Gandaki Rural Municipality in Gorkha district, on Friday. This species of pangolin is reported to be on the verge of extinction in the world.
Forest Officer of the Division Forest Office, Rabi Ananda Gopali said the pangolin was found in a pond near the house of a local Prem Kumar Shrestha.

A team from the Division Forest Office, Gorkha, rescued the pangolin immediately.
Gopali further said the pangolin might have reached the area in search of food. Pangolin is smuggled for the use of its scales for medicinal purposes. It is believed that diseases like cancer and asthma are cured through the use of its scales.
Out of the eight species of pangolin in the world, two—Kalo pangolin and Tame pangolin - are found in Nepal, he added.
