Govt mulling mega project for Far west's development

KANCHANPUR, Aug 22: Minister for Industries Anil Kumar Jha has said that the government is preparing to implement soon a mega project in the Far-west region for the industrial development of the region.



Inaugurating the Third General Convention of the Mahakali Brick Entrepreneurs Association in Bhimduttanagar on Tuesday, he said the living standards of the people in the region could be raised only through the development of the industrial sector.[break]



The Industry Minister expressed the government´s plan of developing a dry port in the Chandani Dodhara area of the district that lies across the Mahakali River.



Brick entrepreneurs speaking on the occasion demanded that the government waive off the revenue. However, Minister Jha said that was not possible.



President of Nepal Brick Entrepreneurs´ Federation, Mahendra Bahadur Chitrakar, demanded that the government should waive the tax on brinck industries.



Shankar Bahadur Chand, President of the Mahakali Brick Entrepreneurs Association, presided over the inaugural session of the general convention.
