The last meeting of the parliament had failed to endorse the National Assembly related bill after the ruling Nepali Congress and main opposition CPN-UML differed over the single transferable vote system.

After the parliament’s term was over, the government on Monday endorsed two ordinances - one on medical education and the other on National Assembly election. However, the government had not made the latter public. Both the bills were yet to be endorsed by the parliament.

The National Assembly related ordinance issued today contains the provision of single transferable vote system. UML had been opposing this system.

The election of National Assembly will take place after the parliamentary and provincial elections are held.
