KATHMANDU, Jan 13: The CPN (Maoist Center) has urged the government to effectively implement the decisions taken by the previous government regarding earthquake and disaster management in western Nepal, including Jajarkot.
Speaking after the 16th meeting of the National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management held at Singha Durbar on Sunday evening, the party's Deputy General Secretary Shakti Bahadur Basnet said so. He mentioned that the issues of public concern and urgent needs should be raised seriously.

Stating that he felt the current government was indifferent to the promises the previous governments had made to the earthquake victims in western Nepal, he said, "Basically, what we raised was that the decisions taken by the previous government regarding the earthquake and disaster management in western Nepal, including Jajarkot, had to be effectively implemented. We raised the issue of not delaying it. We felt that the government was trying to go back a little on it. For example, the decision to provide five hundred thousand rupees per family for reconstruction. We feel like they are trying to reduce it.”
He added, "It was clearly written in the procedure that a family should be recorded as a separate family in the state’s record before the disaster, and we feel confused about the procedure for addressing the family as a separate family during reconstruction." He accused the government of not being serious about issues such as earthquakes in western Nepal.
