Govt forms high-level salary commission

KATHMANDU, August 23: The government has formed a 'High-Level Salary Commission' led by former chief secretary Leela Mani Paudyal.


The Council of Ministers meeting held on Monday (22 August) decided to form the high-level commission with the mandate to review the minimum salary, allowances, wages and perks and benefits of government employees and workers and recommend to the Government of Nepal.


Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, spokesperson for the Government of Nepal and Minister for Information and Communication Technology, said that the Cabinet meeting decided to form the high-level commission under the leadership of former chief secretary Poudyal to review their minimum salary, allowances, wages and based on the economic condition of the country and its ability to bear expenses.

Speaking at a press conference organized to announce the decision of the Council of Ministers meeting on Tuesday, Minister Karki said that the temporary posts of 204 officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development have also been approved. Similarly, the government has also decided to allow foreign citizens to go to third countries via Nepal.


Minister Karki said that the Cabinet meeting also decided to promote Joint Secretary Narayan Prasad Sharma Duwadi to the post of Chief Secretary of the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers of Sudurpashchim Province.


Likewise, Criminal Offenses Second Amendment Regulations 2021, Electronic Governance Commission Formation and Operation Order 2022 have been approved. Minister Karki said that the Government has also approved the Immediate Problem Solving Guidelines 2079 BS. Likewise, the Council of Ministers meeting has also approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs to send 140 Armed Police Force personnel to the conflict-torn Mali.
