Gopal Prasad Pokharel, the president of the Nepal Civil Service Employees Union (NCSEU) said that all employees started a formal protest from Wednesday on the joint call of the big five trade unions.

The civil servants have said in a joint call that there is a need for discussion with the relevant parties on such issues as the meaningful participation of the concerned parties is inevitable in the lawmaking process.

They added, “Since the government of Nepal has come to know that the bill of the Federal Civil Service Act has gone to the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs for approval without discussing it with the concerned parties, this matter has attracted the serious attention of the trade unions at the national level.”
