KATHMANDU, Oct 30: The government has announced to provide Rs 200,000 as immediate relief to the family of those killed due to flood and landslide in the past few days. An emergency meeting of the cabinet held on Wednesday afternoon made a decision to this effect.


According to the Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, the cabinet meeting decided to unveil a separate relief package after determining the loss caused by the flood and landslide triggered by incessant rainfall.

Minister Karki said the cabinet meeting also decided to provide additional Rs 100,000 per person as relief if more than one member of the same family is killed in the recent incidents of flood and landslide.


Similarly, the meeting decided to provide Rs 15,000 to the family of five and Rs 20,000 to the family with more than five members displaced by the flood as livelihood support to buy food and other essentials.


According to Minister Karki, the government has decided to bear all cost of treatment of those injured in the recent flood and landslides.


The flood-affected family whose houses have been damaged will be provided Rs 50,000 per house as support to rebuild their home. A decision to this effect was made by a meeting of Disaster Management Council on Wednesday.
