KATHMANDU, Nov 18: The government has collected a fund of Rs 152.80 million for helping the victims of the Jajarkot earthquake.
According to Narayan Prasad Bhatta, spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministries (OPMCM), the aforementioned amount has been collected in the Prime Minister Natural Disaster Relief Fund. The amount will be utilized for supporting the livelihood of the victims of the Jajarkot earthquake that hit the area two weeks ago.

Although the government has collected funds to mobilize it for the welfare of the quake victims, it is being criticized for failing to provide respite to those affected.
The tremor claimed the lives of 153 people and left hundreds of others injured and homeless.
According to the OPMCM, the amount has been collected from over six dozen institutions and a number of individuals. Proprietor of Bhatbhateni Supermarket Min Bahadur Gurung, Buddha Air, Rastriya Banijya Bank, Global IME Bank, Surya Nepal, CAAN, Central Payment Release and Gorkha Brewery have contributed more than Rs 10 million to the government’s relief fund.
